figured out this morning why the car has been running a bit poorly. I have been meaning to check the oil for ages. So, this morning I finally pulled my dipstick out and lo - 4mm oil visible. Most of a bottle of oil later and broom is running much smoother. Will I ever learn to check more often? Even when I know broom uses oil, nearly 10 yrs, yeh, no excuses, I know she uses oil. Will I blow up the engine instead? only time will tell.

The advantage of having an elderly car as one's first vehicle is that you get in the habit of checking the oil every time you put petrol in it - even though my next car hardly used any oil I felt it was a good habit to keep.

Hey hi there lady Q. I was just thinking of you! Well I had an elderly car too but i have never had good habits about car maintenance, ever, even then. Some other things yes, car maintenance, no.
