Now we drift into highlights of the pics rather than pics of the highlights. I am not much of a photographer. I took 4G of pics and there are only about 10-15 worth looking at. So the bits I really enjoyed most did not necessarily come out best in the photos. So:
Here is my best pic of Orkney. This is taken on South Ronaldsay island. Orkney is pretty flat and really windy. I felt it had a soft and peaceful feel which I really enjoyed.

Here is my best picture of a loch. You can see that we did not always have lovely sunny weather.

Here is a windy hilly road. This and the last pic were taken a little south of Aviemore I think, I wasn't navigating. Sadly you can't see that the hill on the right is mostly purple with heather.

speaking of heather, I did not know what heather actually looked like. It is a very pretty thing when you get up close and makes the hills go a lovely colour. It only grows in exposed hilly places. Rather amusingly, not long after I had taken this pic, another car pulled up, a lady got out, climbed the hill a bit and knelt down low to take a close up of the heather. Exactly what I had just done.

but the woods I tell you! I have so not had my fill of woods. I want to go back and visit every wood I can find. I just loved it. Never felt that way about the Australian bush sadly. The UK trees are the right colour, lush and happy. Makes me feel great. This pic is from a private wood (open to the public) in the large grounds of Dalkeith House not far from Edinburgh.

I just had to throw this one in because I like it. This is ferny weeds and a treetop reflected in a river in the grounds of Pollock House in Glasgow which also houses the Burrell collection.
