I'm not real fond of of valentine's day either. No roses, cards, chocolate, dinner out.... for Montjoye today. I was however rather amused when I realised I was sewing pink hearts on the train on said day. Here are the latest pieces of the heart quilt. The bottom one was being worked on today and (I think) made a policeman smile while I worked on it at Flinder's St station this evening. Not so bad.  Now, because I need to love myself better, I am going to go and cook proper dinner.

"I need to love myself better"

no truer words could be said for any of us. I smiled a lot when I read your post, thankyou.

I can't wait to see this heart quilt - it's sounding really cute!

Heh, did you know beetroot takes a long time to roast? I et it crunchy, the rest was mostly cooked and tasty. Can't believe I ate so late but at least it was real food.

The quilt is 1/2 a piece away from being ready to assemble. It is even getting cool enough to use the finished thing. I am not keen to make it up and then have to put it in the cupboard for months.

I have been working on reclaiming Valentine's day in recent years. I think that it should be a day for celebrating all sorts of love, not just the romantic sort, and that's particularly important for those of us who rely on our friends more than those who have partners. I meant to send cards to a bunch of people, but work has been so shocking in the last few weeks that I didn't manage it. Nonetheless, Happy Valentine's Day - I love being your friend.

goodness, you must really have wanted to send that or LJ is playing up 'cause it arrived twice. Thank you dear. I love being your friend too. Reclaiming Vday huh? interesting thought. Mostly I survive by ignoring it and vaguely wishing.

I think I hit the back button and then wasn't sure if I'd posted or not.

Yep, I've spent more than a few Valentine's Days feeling miserable, but then I decided that I'm not allowing the likes of Hallmark to dictate what I should or shouldn't value. There are people who love me and people whom I love, and that's well worth celebrating.

I love those hearts. They're very Baz Lurhman Romeo and Juliet - esque.
