gold Durer frock

for those that haven't seen it on. Soft focus valentines day edition. Um, read would have got a better shot if I had asked someone else to take it. I am mostly happy with it. The dress that is, not the photo. I now think I should have cut the neckline differently- with more coverage! Hopefully I will do better on the black one.

The frock looks lovely and the light gives it something of the effect of a Flemish painting. Let me share my tip for taking self-portraits with a digital camera: Stand in front of a mirror. Point the camera at yourself and look at the digital display in the mirror. That way you'll be able to tell when you've got the framing right and you can take a picture that doesn't have the camera in it. Your only limitation is the length of your arm and it's relationship to the camera's focal length.

Thanks. Ta for the camera tip too, I haven't tried that one. Don't think I could achieve a full length shot that way but would be good for hats or small things like faces.

I likeee! It looks like it moves well, a dress that likes to dance.

Ta and indeed it did dance last night though only the mimed branles. There was a special little magic in dancing in a circle around G playing the music on a flute.

thank you! and I enjoyed the post about your pink knickers' outing :)

WOW

That looks just amazing.

I also think the framing was very appropriate with the pretty wooden frame around the mirror - if you hadn't had to put the camera in the shot it would have looked rather painterly.

You DO realise I may be coming to wibble at you at some point - I foolishly volunteered to make a cosplay costume for my young friend Sarah and it was (unfortunately) a huge success.

Now she and Freddy would like some more please, and more elaborate too, and....argh.

Thank you. The camera is in fact delicately placed to keep up the pretence of hiding my identity from those that don't already know me.

You are very welcome to come wibble at me about costume, or other things even. I keep meaning to catch up with giddyaunt and yourself. Time, why can't I have another few days per week that aren't devoted to work?

Just say when and we shall come. the giddyaunt is coming to me today to help me buy a vacuum cleaner (for example) and I am sure there would have been a way to have coordinated a visit had we but known....

You and she are the prime drivers here - I'm pretty flexible this time of year.

really? um, is it too late? I'm sort of at a loose end having piked on what I had planned to do this afternoon. Giddyaunt has my numbers. Maybe I'll call her.
