a few of us went to bendigo
we had pretty coffee and second breakfast
we spent 2+ hours looking at couture gowns, no photos allowed :(. The gallery and town have invested rather a lot in this exhibition. It is obviously working to get people to visit Bendigo. We swooned with appreciation of the elegance of many of the gowns, suits and jackets. Doushkasmum gave herself eyestrain identifying the cunningly placed seams. Even D was absorbed over the same time frame as the 3 gals.
we had a smackerel of lunch and a sit down in a rather lovely wine bar
we climbed the observation tower
we went looking for the cathedral
which we found
which had gargoyles!
Then we visited the pottery, ate cake and tea/coffee and came home.
A pleasant day. We saw no bush fires or evidence of any. Except what looked like a solitary house fire. We did see the aftermath of a nasty car accident. or some of us did, I was squeemish and looked away. I do wonder whether we should really have gone last Sunday. Our hosts had been monitoring the fires in the region and our driver was an old Bendigo local. We did at least inject some funds into the Bendigo economy I suppose.
