Sorry I missed bash. Heat was humid and oppressive. I had heroic amounts of laundry to get done and really wanted some hours at home. Hope all who went had a great time.

I had meant to have an early night to finally catch up on some of that sleep that I have been missing for weeks. But I have been slowly working through LOR in extendo version. this evening/night I watched the last one. I keep forgetting just how long the extendo mixes run. Whew, got that out of my system for another little while. "King Spunk Bunny" is what friend M used to call Aragorn, or more rightly, Viggo Morgenthingy playing Aragorn. Actually I think Eomer is more appealing. Wonder what else Karl Urban has acted in?

Had a funny old day trying to get 50 things done at once. Did spend a few pleasant hours with [livejournal.com profile] villana  Spotlighting and lunching. Also
-finished cutting nephings quilt
-cut and half made a skirt-might end up too tight-stuffed up a couple of times in the cutting- silly me
-fixed my red roman bag by replacing the broken zipper
-packed up the christmas tree
-wrapped and packaged Bro and families Chrissie pressies ( yes, BAD, duck, hands over head)
-did (mumble) loads of laundry
- stuff, stuff.

Back to the grindstone tomorrow. I could so use some more time off, suprise.

Extended Mix

I like them much more, and they actually seem shorter to me. For why? Because we are no longer trying to cram everything into 3 films. It's now six. Which is what JRRT wanted in the first place. Love them, despite occasional jarring notes. Glad you enjoyed them.

Re Karl Urban/Eomer, currently trying not to think of Rohan as...

The Land of the Proto-Mullet.

Urban has remarkably flary nostrils but that aside, he's pretty cute (esp with a haircut) ;-)

looking at imdb, he was on Xena, which is why he looks vaguely familiar (to me anyway), seeing as they used every actor in NZ and then some. and was in Hercules too. I see he's playing Bones in the new Star Trek movie, interesting...

also: I haven't even finished my Xmas presents. so you're ahead of some people there ;-)

No, thank you! I did find it rather distressing to watch on first viewing. I was reading squalour, codependance, slovens, trapped, deluded. On thinking about it some I came up with some more descriptors: creative, theatrical, alternative views, different ways of living. These don't cancel the first set but do soften my opinion somewhat. I'm glad to have seen it anyway.

Re: Extended Mix

Ya, I like the extendo mixes. Have seen them at least twice previously. Much more lush and less rushed. It took 6 episodes or 3.5hrs to do Austen's slim volume "P+P" properly. That is probably even more minutes per word that LOR. They did still leave whole story elements out of LOR. Not half bad though.

and ah, yes, Rohan does look somewhat like Mr Urban.

Just about any fabric shop will sell you calico. I buy whatever is suitable and really cheap as I find it. Throw out curtaining weight drill from spotlight was my last patterning fabric.

Really, there's no special muslin muslin I need? Cool! I will keep using the old op shop sheets I use for SCA patterning. I will buy something heavier for suiting though.
Thanks!!

Ya, the trick is to use a fabric similar in weight and hand to your target fabric.
