after a massive week I spent yesterday completely on my own, at home except for a brief trip out for groceries. It was great. I got 3 loads of laundry done, bought more food than I have energy to cook, ate salad, actually did some sewing! Doushkasmum's present is very nearly done. You only get a pic after she has received it. Then I need to sort out my costume for her party this arvo. Oh and tidy the house for my houseguests. Hmm, that will fill the morning.

Christmas is still not sorted, rats. Usually I am pretty organised by now. There has been too much else to fit in lately. I must say too that I am feeling horribly pressured by the multiplicity of gifts that have to be decided on, aquired, balanced in value?. It is particularly weird to do Christmas when has no parents, siblings or children locally. I should be used to it but I still find it hard that Christmas is not "in the house" so to speak. I do however feel welcome in the bosom of my friends houses. I have had 3 invites for Christmas lunch this year- very lovely. Of course I can only go to one and that will be the first invite! and delighted to do so. No pleading a "subsequent engagement". One day I want to find it appropriate to plead this as an excuse, it is so rude.

It's such a crazy balancing act isn't it? I tried to do the 'no presents' Christmas this year, but my parents had already done their shopping. So they are getting fair trade chocolates and Oxfam unwrapped gifts.
Sam is worn out, and was planning to squeeze in a shopping trip either today or Xmas Eve. Instead I have given him permission to give me an IOU and we'll go shopping together for it after the big day.
Hope you find the right Chrissy balance for all your gift giving. Enjoy this afternoon - I inadvertently double booked, and am off to a housewarming in the opposite direction to Doushkasmum's house, so won't see you today. Hope to see photos though!
