I spent a delightful morning, umm, all of it, browsing one of my local garden centres. Oh what a nice thing to do. I even came home with a tree! and then had to plant it which I wasn't really in the mood for but as it was bought bare-rooted I had little choice. So now the front of my house will be graced with a flowering plum, yay. Currently it is a bundle of twigs but that is the time to buy and plant. It met all my requirements except being truly dry tolerant but that is ok. I was really after a particular size and growth habit. It came down to a choice between the plum and a crab apple. I have a fondness for flowering plums as I grew up with them, so it won the tousle. Fingers crossed it will grow and thrive. Hopefully before someone thinks to nick it.
Another endeavour this weekend is the production of more curtains. This time for the new windows in the corridor. They are mostly done, not sure if I like them yet. The fabric seems bulkier made up than I expected. We will see how they settle. Probably need to make tiebacks too 'cause they block too much precious light when drawn. Fabric is a shiny ivory jaquard with a pattern of wreaths and trefoils, how could I not like it?
My next task (after stirring the soup) is to work out how I am getting to work tomorrow. Sounds strange but I start at a new office. Same old job but in Melb suburbs, not Geelong. Not sure if this is due a yay or not. I will have a better idea by the end of the week.
