Fabric addict
Oh dear. I gave myself permission to go fabric shopping at darncheap for something to make a cool sideless surcoat out of. Um, I didn't get that, they didn't have anything truly suitable. Instead I bought:
-two lengths of silk for trouser/waistcoat lining. From a tie manufacturer, so small classic prints in a wierd mix with white lines where the dye blocks didn't line up. 2$/m. Nice fine silk crepe, one length in green, one red
-some lovely shiny silk with embroidery and spangles. Skirt or casual evening dress? Neither of which I need but it is lovely and was only $5/m
-a piece of cream embroidered net in cotton rather than the usual plastic. Now I have three bits of this type of thing, one cream, one pink, one brown. Each was bought with the idea of a little cardi or wrap top. Haven't made any of them.
I have a thought to stay home from festi this year to actually make some of these clothes that are crowding my brain. Not sure yet.
Now I need to get myself together to go visit
doushkasmum and
sjkasabi for a sewing fest. YAY!
I aim to
-try to cut a pair of hose from some wool offcuts. Interesting piecing will be required.
-refit a bodice so I can remake my turquise durer frock except in wool that I haven't yet dyed yellow. The poor old faithful favourite turquoise frock is now about 12years old and starting to show it's age.
-layer up the quilt for monstah and son
-maybe work on the buttonholes for the pink frock.
